This week the WIT blog will be following our agent Nancy as she sails around the Caribbean on the Star Clipper! Her sailing dates are Saturday, December 8 to Saturday, December 15. Our agent Linda has previously sailed on the Star Flyer, so it’s exciting to get our agents out on their luxury sailing ships yet again! Today, let’s take a closer look at the ship itself:
The Star Clipper was built in May 1991 in Ghent, Belgium, and set sail the following year. She spends her winters and springs in the Caribbean, and her summers and falls in the Mediterranean.
With 4 passenger decks, she can hold up to 170 passengers and comes with a crew of 72. There a number of stateroom categories available, of varying sizes, amenities, and price. Our own Nancy is booked on Commodore Deck in a category 3 cabin.
Ever the travel agent, Nancy will be doing her fair amount of research while on board, thoroughly exploring the ship from bow to stern. She’ll interview the crew for an inside view of life onboard and explore each island on land and in the water. And, as the Royal Clipper will also be docked in Dominica at the same time, she’ll spend some time touring that ship and investigating its ins and outs!
Though Nancy’s trip will be educational and designed to inform her of the minute details of Star Clipper, as “real” travelers you would also get to:
…feast in the elegant Dining Room, with its relaxed buffet-style and open-seating policy.
…wander into the Tropical Bar, to sip at a cocktail and linger on deck,
…enjoy the Piano Lounge to socialize with some fellow passengers.
…retire to the Library for some intimate reading or a clever game of chess, bridge of backgammon
…check out the fitness facility complete with a spa and gym area
…take a swim in one of the Sun Deck’s circular freshwater pools
