Observations across the globe

Italy: Women in Italy enjoy free entry to all museums and cultural sites today.

India: Today in New Delhi, activists held a march for the One Billion Rising campaign, advocating against the culture of violence against women.

China: In China, women are entitled to a half-day off on IWD, and recently, commercial centers have turned it into shopping day, an indicator of women’s economic power.

Australia: 1,000 childcare workers orchestrated a strike to protest pay inequality and lack of funding for early education.

Lebanon: Women’s rights activists plan to march from Beirut’s Sassine Square to Kaskas Garden this Saturday to protest lack of political representation.
